Why we need your support.
Cam Sight is a small local charity that relies, to a very large extent, upon the generosity of the Cambridgeshire community to fund its services to blind and partially sighted people. Each year we need to raise in excess of £200,000 (two hundred thousand pounds) to maintain our services to you.
Cam Sight does receive payment for work done under contract to the Social Services in Cambridgeshire, but this amount covers only a very small proportion of the financial support needed to run the range of services that we provide. The rest of the money is derived from local and national grant-making trusts, local companies, local organisations and also from individuals (in the form of donations and legacies).
At Cam Sight we value every donation - large or small - and recognise the responsibility that we have to ensure that donated money is well spent. Out of our 8 staff, 5 are directly involved in the provision of services to visually impaired people. The other three are a part-time book-keeper, a part-time administrator and the Chief Executive who is also Cam Sight's fundraiser. We keep our costs as low as we can whilst still providing effective support to our front line staff so that your donation will be directly targeted at the beneficiaries of Cam Sight's services.
